Greetings! Network marketing is a business system, just as franchising, retail, direct sales, etc... are business systems. Most people do not understand network marketing when they first look at it & often blow it off - unless they understand something called exponential growth. It's a system of building a business and then duplicating yourself, and earning leadership income by helping others become successful. In fact, you can't be successful in nwm without helping others.

This business system was expanded from it's orginal conception of a network of people joinging together to build a business, to multi-level payouts as described above, when the business owner helps others set up their own business and become successful. It's the concept that was described in "Pay It Forward". The company I'm partnered with is the original company, founded in 1956. In fact, it was the original "green" & "wellness" company. Here's where the money comes from: Other companies spend 45 - 50% of their profits on advertising. My company doesn't advertise - it pays that money to us.  

One source of confusion I find with people who call me from my ads: They're looking for a "home job" - not a "home business" - even though my ad runs under "Business Opportunities". They tend to think it's a scam when I tell them they have some up-front costs ($20 - $299; cheap when compared to a franchise like Mickey D's for $1 million!). No one can start a business that they own, without some up-front costs. It's not a job. You buy your own pencils.

An excellent network marketing company is a way to earn full-time income working a few hours a week, because we work in teams. I put in about 10 hours/wk. with my business. But since I have helped others become successful, the parent company pays me leadership bonuses (no - it doens't come out of anyone else's money) month after month - kind of like royalties - in addition to regular compensation.
